I'm a huge nerd who gets easily excited over books, yarn, Doctor Who, coffee, and so much more.

Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
My Stripe Study Shawl so far.
This weekend is full of movies! The local independent theater is doing one of it’s film festivals, and today we’re seeing “Weird Science” and “They Live”. Tomorrow we’re seeing “Gremlin’s 2” and “Little Shop of Horrors”. I cast on my Striped Study Shawl in a dove grey and an eggplant purple. I don’t know if my wrist will stop hurting so I can actually knit. Still, will be a great weekend!
A working printer would really come in handy right now. I started the Poe shawl, but since I don’t have a printer I keep having to squint at my screen to look at the charts.
It could be worse, I couldn’t have any yarn.

I’m finally back! We finally have internet back, and just in time. So today is the day I entered this world, but the important part is that my in-laws are amazing. They gave me a gift certificate to KnitPicks (well, my husband is amazing because he told them what they should get me), and I haven’t bought nice yarn in a really really long time. I’ve been itching to make a sweater (makes sense right, just when the weather is about to turn to 90+ degrees with high humidity). Now I have never made a sweater in an adult size, but I really want to. I may even have enough to get enough for two sweaters! I am thinking of making the Dark and Stormy cardigan, which will obviously be for next fall/winter. Then I was thinking of making a light weight cardigan for when I’m inside (like at work) and the air conditioning is cranked up. So many decisions!
I’m a very lucky girl indeed. We were driving back from my in-laws last night, which is well over a 3 hour trip. Upon the recommendation of my father-in-law we stopped at a Walmart after the longest leg of the journey to just walk around for a bit (since we both have issues with pain). Now I usually avoid Walmart like the plague, just because it is too much for my anxiety), but it turned out to be fruitful. I randomly was looking at the DVD’s and I found season 1 of Torchwood for $19.99! At work I know for a fact it is $79.99, so it wasn’t a deal we could really pass up, and G. bought it for me.
Then I have a gift certificate to Target, which I intend on using for at least a new pair of pants and some tops.
I really feel grateful for my family, they made leaving my twenties pretty awesome!
I’m craving a cheeseburger and fries like crazy. My husband is fantastic and is going to pick some up for me on the way home.
Until then, watching more “Veronica Mars”, and starting an Owlie Sleep Sack for a co-worker.
I’ve been in a knitting funk lately, so I decided to dig out some of my nice yarn in hopes it would jump start me. It did! This is the Roam Cowl, and I am using Malabrigo Finito in Lavanda. I will admit that it was not a wise decision to bring this as a project for when my sister was in the hospital. I’ve never done a moebius cast on, add in the number of stitches needed for cast on (160), I had to restart this at least 6 times. But at least I became very good at the cast on while I finally had a quiet hour in the waiting room!
I’ve had this yarn in my stash for about a year now, and until I saw it under a different lighting, I thought it was purple with browns, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it was purple with grey!
I haven’t blocked it, but I’m wearing my pretty Hitchiker today because I need a boost. I’ve already had a panic attack and I haven’t even started my shift at work yet! And of course it is taking forever for my phone to send the pictures of me wearing said scarf to my e-mail. I guess I will just have to wait until I get home tonight to upload a picture.
I powered through the pain! Well, that is to say I made sure not to rotate my left wrist too much, but I finished the Hitchhiker!!! I did, of course, run short of yarn, so instead of the ending section being 8 rows, it is only 4. I cannot wait to block it tomorrow!
Now I think I might just make a pair of socks using a random DK weight yarn I have. I just want some comfy socks, nothing fancy. Think I might find a toe-up pattern and start those!
I really want to knit right now, I just want to finish my damn Hitchhiker. I need to put in a lifeline, as I’m guessing I have enough yarn to do one more pattern repeat, but I could be wrong. And I have several other things I want to start, of course I need to pick one. However, I’m in too much pain and the Advil hasn’t touched it.
